PORTRAIT
I find working on Portraits delightful. In this work, it is important for me to find the characteristic expression of the person portrayed, in order to convey a sense of liveliness. I created most of the Portraits so far in the presence of the person involved and subsequently cast in plaster in "lost mould". The time required for the clay model varies between 6 and 10 hours. With female models the work takes a little longer, probably because their finer features are more difficult to catch and the hair is often more complex.
For those of you who would enjoy the outcome and have patience for a sitting of a few hours, please feel very welcome to “take a seat”.
